Lebanese militant group Hezbollah has declared "victory" over Israel following the recent conflict, making its first public statement since a truce between the two sides came into effect.
"Victory from God almighty was the ally of the righteous cause," Hezbollah said in the statement, released on Wednesday.
The group, backed by Iran, assured that its fighters are still fully prepared to confront any future Israeli actions.
"Hezbollah fighters will remain in total readiness to deal with the Israeli enemy`s ambitions and its attacks," the statement added.
The conflict began on September 23 when Israel launched airstrikes on Hezbollah positions in Lebanon, followed by sending in ground forces.
This escalation came after more than a year of cross-border skirmishes initiated by Hezbollah during the Gaza war.
Throughout the fighting, Israel delivered serious blows to the group, including the killing of its longtime leader, Hassan Nasrallah, along with other senior officials.
However, Hezbollah`s statement asserted that Israeli forces failed in their "attempts... to occupy and set up in any of the towns" and were unable to stop Hezbollah’s cross-border attacks or "establish a military and security buffer zone as the enemy had hoped."
The group also noted that its fighters continued to resist Israeli forces "until the last day of the aggression."
As part of the truce deal, Hezbollah is required to retreat north of the Litani River, about 30 kilometers (20 miles) from the Israeli border, and dismantle its military infrastructure in southern Lebanon.
